Things You Save in a Fire

Gets under your skin!
What a wonderful, captivating book.
We’re introduced to some tough topics—family tragedy, rape, sexism—in a way that isn’t heavy-handed, but rather lives under the skin of an athletic, competitive female firefighter.
Quickly, we can see that fellow firefighters give this loner her only sense of family. When she’s uprooted to another fire department across the country, she must carve out a new sense of belonging, including with her estranged mother.
The challenges she faces in this small town bring romance, mystery, suspense and threat. Lots of action for our protagonist to grapple with.
I enjoyed this book immensely.
